Supply List

  • Glycerine based soap
  • Natural essential oil
  • Soap colorant (if desired)
  • Rubbing alcohol

  • Double boiler (or a Microwave)
  • Soap mold
  • Knife or grater to cut soap

  1. Cut the glycerin into small chunks. If you prefer, a grater also works well to slice the soap into small pieces.
  2. Double Boiler Instructions (If you're using a microwave skip to the next step) -
Melt the small chunks of glycerin in your double boiler. This step will take 15- 20 minutes. Be sure to keep the burner on low and stir occasionally. You'll want to heat the soap to approximately 160 degrees.
  3. Microwave Instructions (Skip this step if you're using a double boiler) -
Place your wax chunks in a microwave safe container. Cover your container with a sheet of plastic wrap. This will prevent the moisture from evaporating from the soap. Microwave the soap on low for 15 seconds. Take the soap out and stir it. Continue microwaving for 15 seconds at a time until it is fully melted.
  4. After fully melted, remove the soap from the heat source. Add your colorant. A couple of drops should be sufficient. Stir throughly.
  5. Next, add 2 or 3 drops of essential oil to your melted soap. Again, stir throughly.
  6. Pour the soap mixture into your molds.
  7. You may want to spray the top of your soap with rubbing alcohol to remove any excess bubbles.
  8. When you soap has completely cooled, remove it from the mold by inverting the mold and pressing out the soap using light pressure.
