Supply List

  • Crafter's Touch Lip Balm Base (1 part shea butter, 1 part cocoa butter, 1 part beeswax, 2 parts sweet almond oil)
  • Flavor Oil (if desired)
  • Lip Safe Mica (if desired)
  • Lip Balm Pots or Tubes

Equipment

  • Sauce Pan & Stovetop or Microwave & Microwave Safe Dish
  • Pipettes
  • Newspaper

Instructions

  1. Before beginning, cover your entire work surface with newspaper. Lip balm making can be messy and this step will make cleanup easy.
  2. Melt the lip balm base (or the lip balm ingredients) in a small saucepan on the stove or in the microwave. If you’re using the microwave, you will want to cut the base into smaller chunks and then heat at 15 second intervals until completely melted. NEVER LEAVE THE HOT LIP BALM BASE UNATTENDED!
  3. Allow the lip balm base to cool slightly and then use 1 pipette to add a few drops of the flavor oil to taste. Stir thoroughly.
  4. Next, if you like, add a pinch or two of the mica to your lip balm base. A little goes a long way here so you won’t need a lot. Stir thoroughly.
  5. Now it’s time to fill your lip balm tubes and pots. Use a pipette to fill each container. For easier pouring, use a rubber band to hold all the tubes together. They stand up easily this way. Keep filling each container until they’re a little overfilled. This will get you a rounded top instead of a sunken one.
  6. Allow the lip balm to cool completely and they are ready to use!
